The day you become a Mom, nothing is ever the same. I've realized that as Caitlyn has gotten older, there are fewer things that I can say are Mommy's and I don't have to share. It sneaks up on you. Who cares if they want to eat off of your plate, until the day sneaks up on you that they will eat all of your food, even if the same thing is on their plate, and you are left eating cut up pieces of hot dogs or drooled on broccoli. And then your drink because it's in a big girl cup. You let them, watching the backwash slowly slide back in, and yet you still drink from it because you are still thirsty. Car keys, purses, hairbrushes, pens, books, shoes, seats, makeup, remote controls, clothes (we all know how little girls like dress up), you name it, Caitlyn has used it. Mommy has just a couple things I thought I could honestly say are mine. That is my toothbrush (there is no way I'm sharing, not even with Daddy) and taking a shower by myself. The one part of the day, I can truely say I'm doing something for myself (how I used to take it for granted I'll never know). Yes, personal hygene should always be at the top of any list, but as any mother knows, it sometimes can take a backseat. Well, today, Mommy's list of her's only has made it down to one item, the toothbrush. How, you might ask? Well, as any good Mommy knows, you should always shut and lock a bathroom door as soon as you go in. I made the fatal mistake of leaving it cracked open. So, as Mommy is rinsing off her body, in one quick motion, there is Caitlyn, head under the water, laughing with delight. Clothes on and all. As I've said before, she is a water baby, and considering the fact that she just learned that taking showers is way more fun than baths, I should have seen this coming. I'll go with it. I can say it's my effort of going green, saving water. One less bit of privacy in a not so private world of a mom. I just have to ask, what is left for Mommy?
