2 Going on 13

I tell you, my child went straight from no words, to an attitude. Here is an example.

Caitlyn was refusing to get into her car seat. She was running around and screaming no. The rest of the conversation went as follows:

"Caitlyn, please get into your car seat"

"No!"

"Fine, I'll just call Daddy and tell him you are being bad."

"And what? He at work."

Seriously!! No one ever warned me it would start this soon. One day at a time....one day at a time. lol.

Acting like her Baby

Caitlyn is in love with her baby doll. It goes everywhere with us. Caitlyn not only likes to put her to bed, but the other day, she decided that she would try getting into the baby doll's little bed. A little too small for her? Yes. Was I afraid it would break? Sorta. Although fisher price is awesome and makes toys that seem to last forever. Could I pass up a cute photo op? Heck no!! Enjoy :)

Girly Time

Caitlyn is a huge fan of painting her fingernails and toenails. The child might be a clumsy tomboy who loves to get into things, climb up things and jump off or over whatever she can, but she is also very girlie. Definitely fun for us, and yet very hard. Mommy took advantage of a quiet moment (which is rare around here) and decided to paint our nails. Caitlyn then insisted on taking pictures of her pretty nails. So here are the results. It takes her less than 5 seconds to smudge them and less than a day before it's non existant on her nails, but it's always worth the fun times when we do it.

Snow!?!? (Feb 16)

Yes, you read that right. "Snow" greeted us on this lovely morning. I knew once the sun came up, it would quickly disappear, so I grabbed Caitlyn and we rushed outside to enjoy the once a year occurrence here in Virginia. Mommy's not complaining though. I've had more than my share growing up, and am sure that once Daddy gets out of the Navy, chances are we'll end up somewhere with snow. We'll see. Anyway, we took some pictures to remember this moment and still to this day, Caitlyn, with a memory like a steel trap, will go out, and ask "where's the snow?" But for that brief moment, we enjoyed what we did have.

Finger Paints (Feb 6)

Having a bunch of bath paints, and Mom always forgetting to let Caitlyn play with them in the tub, I got creative and let her use the paints on paper. Unfortunately, at this point in time, Mommy couldn't stand the smell of the paints and had to watch from afar. Caitlyn loved it and was proud to show off her works of art. If you let it set out in the sun long enough, even those paints will dry!

Jan 25, Fracture

On a quiet evening, I took Caitlyn to the grocery store, as I normally would have. As we were about to bring all the groceries in, Caitlyn decided to help and shut the door. Well, she shut the door right on her thumb. After lots of crying, swelling and blood, Mom and Dad quickly took her to the ER. She did great. Hopping down the hallways like a frog, dancing, oh yeah, getting x-rays and her hand bandaged up just in case. Turns out, we were very lucky, and she just squished it good and nothing was wrong with it. But seeing her hand all bandaged up did make me see into the future. I guess she will be more like her Uncle Jason then I would prefer. I guess like Uncle, Caitlyn will know the ER staff and make yearly visits. Let's just hope she breaks that trend!!

It's been a long time!!

Ok, yes, I have taken forever to update the blog. It seems like everything else and yet nothing has been going on, so I have neglected my duty to keep Caitlyn in the spotlight. lol. But really, we have been trying to keep busy with playdates and trying to keep her attitude to a minimum. The girl learns to talk, and now is acting like a 13 year old. Geez. Maybe if it's worse now, it'll be better later? Yeah, here is to wishful thinking. Anyway, I will be updating today and trying to keep up with it from now on. As I very well know, what would people do without 10 million pictures of the evil princess? Take care everyone!!

Where's Daddy?

Where's Daddy? This is what I hear all day when Mike is at work. As soon as Caitlyn wakes up, she comes into our bed, and of course asks where he is. From then on, every time she hears someone outside, she starts screaming, "Daddy!!" and sadly I have to explain that no, he is not home yet. Then, if we go for a walk, every guy she sees from far away, she starts waving and shouting "Daddy?" and once again I have to explain that he is not here yet. I swear everyone at Mt. Trashmore heard her screaming for him when we working out and Daddy ran ahead of us. It is so cute, I love it. But I am truly grateful that Mike will not be doing any more deployments. It would just break my heart too much to explain to her that he really wouldn't be coming home for a long time. Not that I enjoyed having him go on two deployments in the past 2 years, but I am grateful that it happened while Caitlyn was young. Now she can have her Daddy all the time and I will never have to have that horrible deployment talk. It just reminds me how truely blessed we are. But I think Caitlyn asking for Daddy is the best thing ever for Mike, because as soon as he walks in the door she runs and gives him the biggest hugs and kisses ever. And I've never seen a bigger smile from either of them.

Sleeping Beauty

Fresh out of the shower, she passed out on the couch. If only she would do that everyday!

Donuts!!

Not that I'm sure how a donut can even be classified as a breakfast food, Daddy spoiled Caitlyn and got her one this morning. Caitlyn being the chocolate lover like her father, loved them. But she ate them from the top, instead of from the side. Interesting, but surprisingly, not messy.

Big Sister

Well, it's official. Caitlyn is going to be a big sister!! October 2 is the big day! We just found out today and couldn't be happier. Caitlyn is excited along with Mommy, but has no clue why. I guess as my belly grows I'll be able to explain it to her better. But we are hoping to have a healthy baby, boy or girl, that is as wonderful as his or her's big sister. Here's to a healthy and happy 9 months!

More Homecoming Pictures

I received a few more pictures from someone else camera from Mike's homecoming. The second one is a picture of Mike when he was first stepping off the boat to come greet us. The last one was taken as the boat was slowly being tugged in. Of course the Santa standing on the top scared Caitlyn so much she was afraid he was going to come "attack" her while Daddy was coming off the boat. This whole experience was so much and I'm so grateful that we have pictures to help remember them, or at least for Caitlyn. I know that Mike and I will never forget this moment and all the feelings and emotions that came along with it. We are so happy that this was our last deployment and come this December, we will embark on a new part of our life as Mike gets out of the Navy. Wish us luck!

New Camera

So Mommy got a new camera for Christmas, and I am already in love with it. Caitlyn is too. She continuously goes around saying "cheese!" Though as soon as I go to take her picture, she turns her head so I only get a profile shot. Oh well. This is just the beginning with many more pictures to come.

Taking Down Christmas Decorations

Today I finally tackled the task of putting the house back to normal. What a chore that was. Took me forever. But what was great was the fact that I wrapped all the pictures on the walls to look like presents. So when I went to take it all down, Caitlyn was more than excited to help "unwrap" them all. Every time we would start a new one, she would say "I want one" or "I want that". I kept explaining that we already had it, so she couldn't want what she already had. So, after that, every time we would open one, she would say "I have that" What a little smarty pants.

New Year's Eve

How Could I?

Caitlyn will tell us if her diaper is wet or dirty. Not unusual. But the other day we put her in her room for nap time. She cried as usual and I heard her scream "down, down." We ignored it being the great parents we are and figured she was just trying to get our attention. I went in to check on her, just to find out that she had a dirty diaper and wanted us to change her. When we didn't come in, she needed help getting down from her changing table, and since we didn't come, she took her nap right there. Once again, Mother of the year is not going to be one of my nominations! :)
