Oh So Girly

I caught Caitlyn breaking into her jewelry box yesterday. I keep her jewelry and all her rubber bands in there. Well, Caitlyn decided to be slick, and stand on top of the edge of her bed and put all her rubber bands on her as pretties. Such a monkey she is to reach up there. Nothing is safe in this house.

Shake It

Caitlyn has officially learned to shake her booty. What more can I say? Girl has Daddy's moves. :)

Loving the Evil One

As Mom's, we all love our children, or should considering we gave birth to them. And even though I love Caitlyn with every last fiber of my being, I know she is evil. Maybe no one else can see it, but I know how she truly is behind closed doors, or for that matter, publically too. But I still love her. Why? Because she knows exactly how to melt my heart to make me forget that she just dumped her cereal on the ground out of anger, or threw her pooped filled diaper at me and then ran because I said we had to put on another. It's the other things she does that makes me run out and buy her toys she doesn't deserve (at the moment anyway) or clothes that might only be worn once. She may not say "Mommy", but "boob" is about the closest to it I get. It is when she finally learned to say "please" and "thank you" and truely meant it. Or this morning, when for the first time, she said "I love you" and "I love you, too" that all the evil little things she does just disappears. Like today, when she had to sit on Mommy's lap at the hair salon so Mommy was protected from the weird lady cutty my hair. I know she really does love me. Now, I know it'll be awhile before I may get called "Mommy," or even as sweetly as "Daddy." I wouldn't have it any other way really. But just know this. I do know she is evil. So when she steals other kid's toys or sippie cups and throw tantrums in public all the while saying "no no no" because she has to do everything herself, don't say I didn't warn you. At least you'll know why 5 seconds later why I'm smothering her in kisses and buying her another toy.

Parade fun

We went to the Neptune Festival today with our friends Karleigh and Shealyn and their Mommy and Daddy and watched a parade. Caitlyn loved it. But Mommy was once again banned from dancing in public. Apparently, she is old enough to know I can embarrass her. She got to wear necklaces and actually said "necklace." Her vocabulary is slowly building day by day. But she would wave to the floats as they passed and even got a few pieces of candy out of the deal. More exciting times to come. :D

Princess Makeup

Today we went to a fantastic playdate. It was a princess dress-up playdate. They had a tea party using a real antique tea set and cake all while they were playing in their dresses. All the kids had a great time. But in the goodie bag that we got to take home, there was lip gloss. And of course, Caitlyn being the great observer that she is, already knew how to put on her "makeup". Less than 2 minutes after getting her lip gloss, it was put on all pretty all over her face. And of course Mommy got to be pretty too. Gotta love little girls!!

Cookies

To get ready for our super princess playdate, we decided to make princess cookies aka sugar cookies with pink frosting. Caitlyn came into the kitchen to help roll them out and frost them. The frosting was such a mess, Mommy wasn't able to get pictures of that, but I did get a few good ones of her making the cookies with me. She is getting into cooking with me so much more. I'm loving it!

Playground Fun

The weather has been great now. Nice and cool, so we can actually enjoy the outdoors again. I took Caitlyn to the park down the road and we just had a great time playing. Caitlyn of course insisted on going down the biggest slide and trying to swing on the adult swing. Mommy got a few good pictures of her actually smiling. I see so much of Daddy in that smile of hers. 88 days until he comes home. :)

Making Brownies

Brownies. Always very yummy. And now that Caitlyn has discovered the beauty of helping Mommy cook (with the help of her stool to reach the counter) we are having fun times in the kitchen. This evening we decided to make some cookie brownies. Nothing like fresh brownies and then freezing them for later eating. :) Well, being the choco-holic like Daddy, Caitlyn ended up trying to eat more of it before we could get it into the oven. It was so much fun to do this with her. I think Santa may be bringing a taller step stool more kid friendly utensils for more fun time in the kitchen. If you get any of our Christmas cookies this year and they have a little more kid taste/look, you'll know why. :)
Another thing Caitlyn has been doing is dressing herself. Tutus are a staple to everyday wear now. But before Daddy left, he used to find it funny to put socks on her hands to listen to her whine. Mommy found it as annoying as Caitlyn, as Daddy laughed and tried to hide so I couldn't yell at him. Well, now Caitlyn loves to put socks on her hands. I convinced her to take them off to eat some snacks, and now the ones that were on her feet are now placed on her hands. Why she insists that this is a good thing, I have yet to know. One more way I know she thinks like her Daddy. I'm seeing more of Mike in her everyday. I'm glad he'll be home in 90 days and then he can deal with his Mini-Me female version of himself. LOL. :)

Beauty Sleep

Caitlyn is in love with playing dress up, even as she goes to bed. Well, apparently she also needs her beauty rest, but doesn't like it too bright. Using a headband, she managed to make it a sleeping mask. Little Miss Princess. How she ever thought of it, I will never know. She's a little too smart for her own good sometimes! :)

PB and Dresses

So, Mommy has fallen behind on the blog. Sorry. We've been so busy. Caitlyn has a new passion. Playing dress up and eating peanut butter out of a tablespoon. Give it to her on toast, and she will look at it like it is a foreign object. Put it into a measuring cup, she eats it like a lollipop. Whatever works. I know I'll never figure out how her mind works, but it sure makes it interesting everyday.

And as we get older, we now have a growing love of the television, especially to the show Hi-5. She has slowly learned all the dances and can sing along to some of the songs. Mommy never gets sick of watching it. I'm even allowed to join in now. I guess Mommy has enough moves to dance now. I finally passed the tests. lol. Naturally, I put two and two together and with much excitement and sadness, I started thinking of her upcoming 2nd birthday. Mommy did her research only to find out that the favorite show is Australian based, and if you order anything, you have to pay shipping from Australia. Not exactly what we planned. Being crafty as I am, I'll tackle the cake myself. I already have it planned out, and will do a practice run. Wish me luck.

With these two loves of dresses and Hi-5, I know more excitement is to follow. And the little room I have left in the house will disappear when her birthday and Santa come this December. Now to remind Santa to keep it simple will be the tough part...Daddy comes home just a few days before. :)

Ohio

We finally made it back. Caitlyn and I went to visit Grandpa and Grandma up in Ohio. Caitlyn had a great time, especially since she got to play outside nonstop. She loved to play in Grandpa's van, "driving it", and spent hours playing in the pool, "helping" water the plants, dancing, and just going crazy. It was a long week, but Caitlyn and I are both now trying to recover and catch up on sleep and get back into our normal schedule. Vacations are always nice, but of course it's always nice to be home.
